The day will begin with a visit to the ancient Museum of Ceramics in Seminara. These ceramics probably descend from Magna Graecia ones’ and are tied to the culture of theatrical masks along with their cathartic meanings.
A few kilometres from Seminara, in Palmi, in a vast green area of extraordinary beauty, is Parco Archeologico dei Taureani. Here you can admire the remains of ancient settlements from the 2nd millennium B.C. onwards. Archaeological excavations have brought to light 4,000-year-old huts, the Mosaic House with polychrome tiles and much more. In addition, the area preserves the oldest Christian place of worship in Calabria: the Crypt of San Fantino.
Afterwards, lunch based on tasting of typical products and Calabrian excellences.
Your journey will end with a visit to Metauros Archaeological Museum in Gioia Tauro, located in 18th century Baldari Palace. Here you will discover the history of Métauros, founded by the inhabitants of Zancle (today’s Messina, Sicily) under the influence of Locri colony in 6th century BC.
