DAY 1: REGGIO CALABRIA
Arrival in Reggio Calabria, the city of the Morgan le Fay. A walk along the seafront, defined by Italian poet D’Annunzio as “the most beautiful kilometre in Italy”, among Art Nouveau buildings and the remains of the ancient “Reghion”, immersed in a tropical botanical garden overlooking the blue sea of the Strait of Messina. Other fundamental stops are the Cathedral, dedicated to Maria Santissima Assunta, Ottimati Byzantine Church and the Aragonese Castle. In the heart of the city is the National Archaeological Museum of Magna Graecia, one of the most prestigious archaeological museums in Italy, which houses the Bronze Statues of Riace, the Head of the Philosopher and many of the most important finds from Magna Graecia era. Overnight stay in hotel.
DAY 2: CHIANALEA
Breakfast at the hotel and luggage pick-up. Walk to Chianalea, the fishermen’s district of Scilla, a beautiful village where houses are built on rocks, separated by narrow streets that descend to the sea. Strolling through the distinctive alleyways you can smell the scent and sound of the sea and you are immersed in a magical atmosphere, which has made it earn a mention among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy (I Borghi più belli d’Italia).
